My name is Leigh! I am the founder, lead designer, and structural engineer behind the Stitch Lab.
If you've ever felt that crochet patterns are more like complex algebra than a relaxing hobby, you're exactly why I started this. My core philosophy is simple: Crocheting should be an avenue for joyful self-expression, not confusion.
My background is rooted in structural design and technical garment construction, not just traditional fiber arts. I took the expertise I gained creating tailored pieces and traditional high fashion and applied it directly to yarn. Who says you can only make certain shapes out of crochet??
The Mission: Structure + Connection
The Stitch Lab was born to solve two problems: confusion and isolation.
I loved the craft, but I hated the noise of short-form social media. At the same time, a small, private WhatsApp craft group became my digital lifeline—a genuine, supportive space to share progress and troubleshoot.
This feeling of genuine connection and expert support is what fuels The Stitch Lab. We specialize in patterns that eliminate the mid-project panic attack by guaranteeing a tailored, beautiful fit, and we provide the community to ensure you finish your art.
The Problem: The standard crochet pattern felt like a gamble: confusing sizing, shapeless results, and NO ONE to talk to about your projects = a growing #WIP pile.
The Solution: I fixed the system. The "scary math" became a solvable puzzle, and the chaotic process became a "paint-by-numbers" grid, and for each pattern: a dedicated space to make it with other crocheters.
I hope I’ll get to crochet with you!
